Strengths-Based Practice in Social Work and Human Services
This international conference celebrated Strengths-Based Practices in Social Work and Human Services, focusing on work with individuals, groups, and communities. It showcased the best professional and expert practitioners from Australia, South Asia, the United States, and the Asia-Pacific region. The conference was organized by the Brisbane Institute of Strengths-Based Practices (Inc.), in collaboration with Nepal-based NGOs and the School of Social Work, and was endorsed by several other organizations.

Sarajevo, the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, shares a common heritage and a shared history of transformation within this European region—one that has significantly impacted the lives of its people. Coping with change has never been easy for individuals, groups, communities, or nations. Societies are increasingly expected to demonstrate resilience, respond to the evolving needs, aspirations, and expectations of their populations, and continue building a future grounded in peace and hope.
The conference was held at the premises of the Rectorate of the University of Sarajevo.

Asia Pacific Regional Conference,

The conference was centered on the fascinating capacity of human resilience in response to adverse life events as they unfolded. It aimed to advance evidence-based practices in resilience promotion and hope building. The program examined the interplay of individual, family, community, and social responsibility factors in fostering resilience and provided directions for future practice and research.

The Coping & Resilience International Conference Dubrovnik 2009 (C&R Dubrovnik 2009) brought together practitioners, researchers, community activists, and academics working in the trans-disciplinary field of human coping with diverse and challenging life circumstances. The conference focused on the remarkable capacity for human resilience in the face of adverse life events and aimed to advance evidence-based practices in resilience promotion and the cultivation of hope.

International Conference Towards Strength Based Strategies
that Work with Individuals, Groups and Communities
10 – 12 November 2006 – Hyderabad – India
The Brisbane Institute of Strengths-Based Practices and the India-based NGO Sanghamitra co-hosted this inaugural International Conference. The event aimed to foster global connections among individuals seeking solutions to their local challenges.
This significant activity marked the first Australian-organized International Strengths-Based Strategies Conference, held in November 2006 in Hyderabad, India. Principal collaboration occurred with Sanghamitra, a rural development organization based in the Medak district of Andhra Pradesh.
Generous funding was provided by the AUSAID ISSS scheme to bring two resource persons from the Pacific region—Papua New Guinea and Australia. Additionally, the Australia India Society offered equally generous assistance to cover partial costs for three speakers.
